The Green Adobe, a restored 1920s adobe home in historic Shafter, is now open for guests seeking a quiet, unplugged West Texas escape. As the first guest‑ready home in Shafter’s restoration effort, this marks an important milestone in bringing the historic mining town back to life.

The Tidewater and Big Bend Foundation begins work on the church, the post offices, the stores, the garage and a number of the residences, taking them back toward how they stood when the mine was running.

John B. Poindexter, chairman of the Tidewater and Big Bend Foundation, is recognised for 32 years of work across 30,000 acres and three historical forts in the region.
