The House
About this property
Dating to approximately 1900, The Livingston Complex is among the earliest residential structures in Shafter. The property has remained connected to the Livingston family for generations, with the original home built by Ike Livingston’s grandfather. The Livingstons were ranchers whose land adjoined the Cibolo and mine properties, offering a perspective on Shafter’s history beyond the silver mining operation itself.
The property has evolved over more than a century, and today includes the restored main house alongside several historic structures. Careful restoration has preserved the character of the original adobe construction and distinctive rock exterior while thoughtfully adapting the main house for modern guests. The result is a home that feels deeply rooted in its setting while offering the comfort and space needed for an extended stay.
Inside, seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms provide plenty of room for larger groups to gather and settle in comfortably. A full kitchen gives guests the freedom to prepare meals at home, while the property's historic character and setting place you within the quiet rhythm of Shafter. With space to spread out and the West Texas landscape just beyond your door, The Livingston Complex offers a memorable way to experience this remarkable historic town.

What to expect
Your stay at The Livingston Complex is private and self-guided, giving you the freedom to settle in and experience Shafter at your own pace. As Shafter is a remote West Texas destination, we recommend planning ahead for any food, beverages, or personal provisions you may want during your visit. The full kitchen gives your group the option to prepare meals within the home, while the Mine Store Café offers another option during your stay. With generous space, historic character, and a quiet setting, The Livingston Complex is well suited to families, groups, and guests looking to settle in and enjoy Shafter together.
